Emergency Updates
Campus Safety Update: 9/11/24 at 5:37 p.m.
Campus Safety continues to monitor the area fires and is in regular contact with the Claremont Police Department and other key agencies. The Bridge Fire, which originated in Glendora, northwest of The Claremont Colleges, has grown in intensity in a northerly and easterly direction. The fire command notes that the winds are predicted to drive the southeast corner of the fire northeast toward the foothills to the east of Claremont. The Evacuation Warning for the northeastern tip of Claremont is three miles from our campus center. The Line Fire in San Bernardino County and the Airport Fire in Orange County continued to burn and are a considerable distance from our campus but may impact our faculty and staff who live throughout the region.
In an effort to keep everyone informed and safe, we are sharing key resources to monitor fire activity, evacuation orders, and air quality. Whether or not you are directly affected, staying informed is crucial for our collective well-being.

- Limit outdoor activities, especially prolonged or strenuous exercise.
- Stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
- Use air conditioning if available, ensuring the fresh air intake is closed and filters are clean.
